This group exists to support transparency, accountability and broad stakeholder participation in the future of Chestnuts Community Centre.
It continues the community-led process arising from the council consultation, where the idea of a cooperative stakeholder structure for Chestnuts was first proposed: a centre shaped through shared responsibility, communal care and inclusive governance.
This forum is not a substitute for formal decision-making, but it is a space for members, users, residents, organisers and stakeholders to remain informed, ask questions, share evidence, and help ensure that any emerging CIC, bid or management proposal reflects the wider Chestnuts community.
The immediate purpose is to support a fair reset, clarify membership and protect the cooperative principle. Going forward, this group remains as an essential Chestnuts CIC Integrity Review Group: a standing advisory and review space for transparency, accountability, evidence-sharing and community-rooted governance.
